I went to the hall, there was less people there than last year (dont know the exact amount but it was significantely less), this time I listened to the discourse with open eyes, so much misinformed info about the bibles account of Jesus, 144,001, small sheep etc, had to bite my tongue a few times.

What a depressing site, all these happy people part of a big sick joke, driving back home I had to hear "was that not a great discourse? I really enjoyed it", the person that spoke at the hall sounds very convincing to someone that does not know the real truth + his from the writing department so he must know what his talking about, right? wrong.

I ended my bible study today

i have officially stopped my bible study today.

i have been trying to for weeks (after 10 years of on/off studying).

it got to the stage where i was asking too many of those questions that made everyone feel uncomfortable.

djeggnog: djeggnog I ended my bible study too, I found that there were certain questions you could not ask , I wish more people like you were around to give me a bible study WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED, my questions about old wathctowers, new light, paradise earth, 607bce, trinity, NWT bible differences with other bibles, Jehovahs name, shunning, double standards, blood, cult mind control, lies etc.

I did ask you a question about 1914 some time back, it was read like something was copied and pasted from the insight book, maybe I could post what unlogical and assuming sense these links with other scriptures have, like how the 7 times in revelations applies to nebu's madness, you can't really prove that one scripture refers to the other.

this is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).

avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.

(para 7, pg 16).

anyhow, i was watching a tv programme the other day about nature following the second law of thermodynamics and i realised that everything around us breaks down, everything wears, things that move generate friction, the tendancy for particles is to fall apart and "entropy" to increase, just as the universe itself will one day have no structure left as such, just randomness of elementary particles floating about and darkness.. .

really, the question implies a bogus argument.

Reality exists in your brain

i've just posted the following in another thread whose subject is supernatural experience, but it may deserve its own thread so i'll repost it here.

i don't believe in the supernatural but i do believe that people experience unexplained things.

where i differ from some people is that i perceive the unexplained things exist only in their brains and not in the physical world around them.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Reality exists in your brain? I havent read most post but by the title I always thought the brain to be our processor and recorder, we see through our brain using our eye's, we ear through our brain using our ears, we taste through our brain using our tongues.

The human brain can do some incredible things, see and ear things that arent there, dream, senses and deja vu, but reality exists in our brain??, I believe the brain gives the key to reality. For example when a flying object it me in the face leaving a scar I still have today, you can't say it was my brain that made that object float in mid air and hit smack on the forehead can you? It wasn't mass hysteria, mass hysteria would be like someone walking into a bank with a machine gun, something needs to trigger hysteria.

btw Nickolas I find your posts extremely arrogant, LSD, schiz, sleep paralyses, what your saying is anyone is either crazy, imagening it or on drugs lol

i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.

yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.

John 1:1

most the nwt translates john 1:1 as "... and the word was a god," not "...and the word was god.".

the reason they give is that the word theos doesn't have the definite article in front of it in the greek.. in his 1982 book, "the jehovah's witness' new testament," greek scholar robert countess looked up all such occurrences in the nt (theos without the definite article) and checked the nwt.. he discovered that the wts only followed their stated rule 6% of the time.. 94% of the time, they translated it "god" anyway!.

Nickolas like my old post, some of these have explanations but when something weird occurs and more than person saw that weird occurrence how would you explain it? Lets say you are hironing and I am folding the clothes away and later you go to a draw to use one of those folded clothes and find out they are wet, all folded but all wet? In a space of 1 minute since the last wast done. Even more weird, you are drink hot coco, im sitting on the same room watching tv with you and saw the same things i did, lights turn on and off and the tv switches on and off by itself, then the spoon in the mug starts moving mixing the coco with milk more and more violently untill the mug flys out the door and the spoon violently flies and hits in the forehead leaving a red mark. All this happened. Still not convinced, how about this, the old landlord lived in level 1 (it was a two storie house, we lived in level 2), the landlord was on a lot of medication and suffered from depression, he had no family and his wife deceased, one night all us in the living room and the landlords stomach increased in volume making him look like a 4 month old pregnant lady and then a voice of his wife came out from it, I, my mum and dad, grandma and two other people saw this, explain that.

I want to point out that the country that lived before was mainly catholic but a lot of witchcraft was done, I know a witch from my cousins (his grandma) side which at one stage he at to live there but left the following day because a black dog appeared out of nowhere and started talking to him in his language.

How to remain sane while being a hypocrite?

as time goes on i find it a real challenge to keep my sanity while still in "the truth" especially after considering all the rsearch i have been doing about the org.

that i have been very active in for almost 4 decades.

i have managed to be removed as an elder while staying in good standing (prayers-reading,mic carring etc.

Kensho I can only imagen what your going through, I had it easy but struggled during meetings, some people noticed the faces of disgust I was doing at the meetings (im not very good with wearing masks), even worse was the assembly when they anounced the Russell/Rutherford dvd, all I needed was a bucket to throw up in. All I can sugest is start fading without making it look obvious, dont go cold turkey just slow and steady and never show hints of apostacy unless you want to go out with a bang, think of it as a spiritual affair.

Ray Franz books woke me up, I didn't have any doubts at the time but I wanted a more liberal study because I had nothing to compare it to just like a court case you need to investigate both sides to come to a conclusion.
